Welcome to the home page for our projects - one way or another, they all seem to involve trees and the natural world.

Trees Live Here is Susan's new book, nearly complete. The next page provides more information about the book, including a list of the arboretums we visited and a sample chapter.

NEW ON THE SITE  is a slide show, featuring a large group of photos taken at arboretums in the fall of 2011, of fall colors and fruits, set to music. Another show presents a smaller number of trees in photos that look more closely at their features.
We've also explored and written about the trees and floras of Mount Rainier and Mount Adams, the two tallest volcanoes in Washington.

Sound Books and Elemental Plants are two small businesses that grew out of our love of special places and growing things.

Besides photography for Trees Live Here, many of Susan's photographs, more than 800, are part of the resources available in the National Plants Database, where they have been found and used by dozens of students, researchers, and designers.
Brief biographies of each of us are here.
