Chlorophyllum brunneum — Shaggy Parasol — Agaricaceae


Medium mushroom. Convex cap maturing to broadly convex or flat, with brown to gray-brown scales, fibrils beneath scales, whitish, center dark. Gills free, crowded, short-gills present, whitish, sometimes brown on edges. Stalk enlarged at base, taller than width of cap, white, maturing to brown, with fibrils. Thick ring, brown beneath. Saprophytic.

Habitat: Solitary to scattered or gregarious, disturbed areas, sometimes forming fairy rings.
