Boletus zelleri — Zeller's Bolete — Boletaceae


Small to medium mushroom. Dark brown to black cap, reddish on edge, convex to plane, surface wrinkled, powdery when young, reddish with age, sometimes with reddish cracks. Dark yellow pores, often turning bluish when bruised. Slender stalk, colored like cap or reddish-brown. Mycorrhizal.
 
Habitat:
Solitary or small groups, terrestrial or on rotting wood, forest settings.

Scent: Not distinctive

Spores: Olive-brown

Season: Summer to autumn
