Cortinarius multiformis — Cortinariaceae
Large mushroom. Cap convex, soon becoming plane, smooth, viscid, caramel-brown to orangish-brown, paler in age. Attached gills at first creamy, becoming brown. Stalk tapering towards the top, thickened or with a small basal bulb; pallid, with a fibrous zone near the top and bruising yellowish-brown. Mycorrhizal.
Habitat: Usually in small groups, in deep debris under Douglas-fir and Western Hemlock.
Scent: Not distinctive
