Medium mushroom. Cap conical, becoming plane, retaining an umbo and typically with an uplifted margin; smooth, very viscid, dark brown becoming paler at the margin. Gills narrowly attached, whitish, becoming pale rusty-brown. Stalk long, about equal, eventually tapering well below the soil level, viscid, whitish, turning a pale caramel-brown. Mycorrhizal.
