Gyromitra ambigua — Discinaceae
Medium to large mushroom. Cap vaguely saddle-shaped, brain-like; upper surface smooth, dry, caramel-colored to reddish-brown; lower surface pale, minutely hairy. Stalk equal or tapered upwards, sometimes grooved along the length, colored as the cap but paler, sometimes with a pale lilac tint. Saprophytic.
Habitat: Scattered and in small groups on the ground under Douglas-fir.
