Large annual polypore. Usually in overlapping clusters, the individual caps shelf-like. Surface smooth but uneven, margin wavy; bright orange to yellow-orange, paler at the margin. In age, whitish and eventually crumbling. Pores very small, yellow. Saprophytic as well as parasitic.
Habitat: Usually in clusters on standing conifer snags, but sometimes on living trees as well.
