Gomphidius oregonensis — Insidious Gomphidius — Gomphidiaceae
Medium mushroom. Cap convex, inrolled at the margin, becoming more or less plane; surface smooth, sticky, dull brownish-red, duller brown in age. Veil white, sticky, forming a thin ring that becomes darkened by the spores. Gills decurrent, well-spaced, white becoming gray and then blackish. Stalk tapering down to the base, whitish but bright yellow at the base. Parasitic on Suillus species.
Habitat: Usually in small clumps (which may contain aborted mushrooms) in deep duff in conifer forests.
