Phoenix dactylifera - Date Palm

Bordered on one side by the Florida Community College at Jacksonville and one the other by a large pond, the Palm and Cycad Arboretum is a small arboretum with a variety of exotic tropical shrubs and trees. An easy lawn walk through the grounds takes you to an encounter with a diversity of plants adapted to the heat and humidity of northern Florida. The trees grown here do so in conditions quite different than plants in northern climes and have responded with some unusual forms and capabilities.
