Peavy Arboretum

Styrax japonica -- Japanese Silverbell

When compared to other arboretums, Peavy Arboretum is truly a unique place. Reminiscent of Eddy Arboretum in Placerville, California, where efforts to hybridize native species for reforestation was first attempted, this arboretum has served as a research institution, dedicated to the advancement of forestry methods. This is a forested place, where much of it composed of native species , punctuated with introduced exotics in select locations. Peavy is a an excellent place for a walk in the woods. It is an Arboretum truly dedicated to the trees.
