Lactarius olympianus — Russulaceae
Small to large mushroom. Convex cap, inrolled margin when young, maturing to depressed center and flattened, bright orange, zoned. Exudes white latex, coloring the gills. Gills attached to decurrent, close or less so, whitish aging to orangish, with brown stains. Stalk thick, equal or tapering towards base, white, smooth, darker where handled. Mycorrhizal.
Habitat: Scattered to gregarious, beneath conifers, especially spruce.
