Small to medium mushroom. Convex cap, becoming planar, sometimes umbonate, surface moist to slightly viscid; developing scales or fibrils with age, whitish to grayish or grayish-brown, sometimes streaked, margin with white blotches from partial veil. Gills white to creamy, close, attached, with short gills often present. Stalk as tall as cap diameter, equal, sometimes narrowed at base, white, with scales below; sometimes a collapsed ring is present. Mycorrhizal.
