Hypholoma fasciculare — Sulfur Tuft — Strophariaceae
Small to medium mushroom. Conical or bell-shaped cap maturing to umbonate to planar, not viscid, smooth, various colors including sulfur-yellow or greenish-yellow, reddish-brown, margin with wispy veil remnants. Gills attached, sometimes separating, sulfur-colored to darker, dusted with fallen spores, short-gills present. Stalk taller than cap diameter, slender, equal or tapering at base, yellow or tan, stained with age. Veil thin, sometimes leaving a zone on stalk which is darkened by spores. Saprophytic.
