Small to large mushroom. Convex cap maturing to planar, sometimes uplifted, smooth, viscid when moist, whitish to yellow hues, veil remnants on margin. Gills attached, close, pale gray darkening to purplish-black or gray with age. Stalk as tall as cap diameter, equal, silky above veil, fine white scales below, turning yellowish at base with age. Veil white, cottony, sometimes leaving a ring on stalk. Saprophytic.
Habitat: Solitary to scattered or groups, humus, beneath conifers, sometimes hardwoods, wet areas.
Scent: Not distinctive, or radishlike
Spores: Purplish gray to black
Season: Summer to Autumn
